The stretch of the Bolton Bury and Manchester Canal between Hall lane and Nob end, which is still in water, provides a pleasant tow path walk on a summer's day. This can be part of a much longer walk associated with the whole of the Canal, details of which can be found on the Website of the Manchester Bolton & Bury Canal Society by clicking HERE
To access the Towpath at the Hall Lane end, drive from Little Lever towards Moses Gate. Just past the High School as the road starts to go down hill there is on the left a tiny entrance to a dirt track which leads to a small car parking area. The entrance is marked with small sign, "Bolton Canal", usually well concealed by the foliage.
Below are some views of that part of the canal commencing at Hall Lane up as far as where it momentarily narrows prior to entering the Melrose Basin. The last picture is looking all the way back to the Hall Lane end.

The other end of the Canal at Nob End can be accessed by going from Coronation Square,
where the Library is, down Mytham Rd and at the bottom turning right into Boscow Rd.
At the end of this is a short path to a bridge which crosses the canal.
To the left of the bridge is where the breach occured, to the right is the canal in water
heading to Hall Lane and straight ahead is the disused and filled in flight of six locks
leading down to the Ringley Branch which is still in water.
Below are some pictures of this area.
