After the Tea Room was up and running, attention turned
to the back yard area of the shop. This was in a poor state of repair and basically was only used to
house the Wheelie Bin. It occured to Kathy and Paul that this could be converted into an outdoor extension to the Tea Room.
This area, on a pleasant day catches quite a lot of sunshine and would provide a nice environment for
Alfresco dining or just Taking Tea. In addition to this it would give easier access to the Toilet
and, in view of the pending smoke-free legislation, would give a facility for the small minority of customers
who liked to enjoy a cigarette after their meal.
Since it opened on the 1st July, although there are a limited number of seats, it has proved to be extremely popular
As can be seen from the 'before and after' pictures, this
required the replacement of the alcove window with a window and door and a considerable amount of construction
work on the base frame and decking, the side frames and trellis's and the canopy.
